Topic: Editing Location Field within an asset.

I have an asset in which i need to go back into and edit the location field as i have a user that has moved site. I can edit any custom field that i have created manually but there is no way of editing the location field. Now i looked in the back end database to try and track down the actual asset id individually. I managed that but when i manually changed the id of the location to another location and then saved changes it seemed to ruin the data within the actual asset itself and i was unable to view my asset.

In summary is there any way to edit a location which is NOT a custom field, and maintaining all the data within the asset.

I'd recommend simply doing a "Move" transaction on the asset to the correct location, rather than trying to change the location directly. Check your web server error log to see why you're getting a blank screen when opening the asset. Simply changing the location_id shouldn't cause that to happen, unless perhaps you entered a location_id that doesn't exist.
