Topic: Quantity of an Inventory does not add up...

I noticed that the quantity of an inventory does not add up to the transaction and shipping/receiving history.
I've created an inventory and restocked 60 in location X.  I shipped 15 of the 60 and marked the shipment as complete.  I expect 45 as my quantity, but I have 90.
I then took out 1, and the quantity updated to 89, so at least I know the "Taken out" subtracts to the quantity.

I have two questions:
1. But does shipment subtract to the quantity?
2. Why do I have 90?

I just ran a test on our demo environment following the steps you described:

  1. Create a new inventory model

  2. Restock a quantity of 60 in a location

  3. Create a new shipment, shipping a quantity of 15 of this inventory

  4. Complete the shipment

When I view the inventory record, it correctly shows a quantity of 45 as expected.

Could you try to reproduce your problem, and detail the steps to reproduce it?

I have done the steps you have suggested to reproduce the problem, and I get a quantity of 45 after making the shipment.

Going back to the original inventory that has this bug...
the only difference is that I had two other inventory items (each shipped a quantity of 3) as part of the shipment.

I have screen shots to prove that I'm not joking, but I have no way of posting it in the forum.  I can send it to your email address.

Is there a way to track all activities of an inventory that shows how the quantity is calculated?  Even if the tool works perfectly, it would be nice if "Shipped" and "Received" is under the "Transaction Type" so we know what is added and subtracted from the Quantity value.

We are hoping Tracmor would be the right tool for our company.  But a simple bug like this concerns us on its reliability.  A fix would be greatly appreciated.

You can send the screenshots to my email address (my username at tracmor.com), as these could help me troubleshoot the issue. However, a list of steps to reliably reproduce the issue would be the most helpful, so if you do encounter the issue again, please let us know how it happened.

You should be able to view all the activity for an inventory model in the "Transactions" and "Shipping/Receiving History" lists on the inventory record. You can see the quantities involved in any shipment or receipt by hovering the cursor over the inventory icon next to the shipment/receipt number.

I should also mention that we have customers who have been using the Inventory module for over two years, with tens of thousands of inventory transactions performed, and this is the first time we've heard of a problem with quantity calculations.
