Topic: Does Tracmor have a concept for an "Assembly"?

I've installed Tracmor and been tinkering with it this afternoon, but I am finding myself looking for a feature that doesn't seem to exist. I'm posting this as a question rather than a feature request in case I'm missing it somewhere in the system.

Basically what I'm looking for is the concept of an assembly.

For example, say I have an Inventory of Processors, Motherboards, RAM, and other items that I'd use to build a computer. I would like to be able to ship or check out of inventory a "Model 12 Computer" and have Tracmor automatically remove the correct processor, RAM, Motherboard, and other items from inventory. This way it isn't time consuming to remove six or more items from inventory for a single shipment.

Is this concept available? If not, could a moderator please move this thread to "Feature Requests"

Re: Does Tracmor have a concept for an "Assembly"?

The answer depends on whether you are using the Assets module or the Inventory module. If you're managing these items as assets, then you can make use of the parent-child feature. Using the scenario you provided as an example, you could have an asset of "Model 12 Computer" as a parent, with child assets of processor, RAM, and Motherboard. By locking these children to the parent asset, any transactions performed on the parent would also be performed on the child assets. I recommend watching the Parent Child Video Tutorial for more information.

At this time, there is no equivalent feature in the Inventory module, but this is something we'd consider adding in the future.

Got Inventory? Get Tracmor.

any idea if this has been updated?

I too assemble my own stuff and need to put parts into one major part. But in assets it doesn't let me use my inventory. I receive lots of parts, how can I make it so that it will pull the inventory out so i can ship it to the customer and have proper inventory levels?
