Topic: [Feature Request] Asset creation in quantities.

One feature that I'd like to see is the ability to create multiples assets with subsequent asset codes automatically. That's useful for example when you buy quantities of the same product.

Michel,

Thanks for the feedback.  This is a great suggestion,  as the initial entry of new assets into an asset tracking system is always a bottleneck,  and we are always looking for ways to help streamline that process with Tracmor.

In the meantime,  the Clone feature may help speed up this process a bit.  Just click the "Clone" button on an Asset record to duplicate all of the fields (except for the Asset Code of course) into a new Asset record.

There is also a feature already in Tracmor to have subsequent Asset Codes automatically generated.  To use it,  you must first set a Minimum Asset Code in System Settings in the Admin module.  Set this to the starting Asset Code.   Then whenever you create an Asset,  there will be an "Auto Generate" checkbox next to the Asset Code field,  which will automatically generate the Asset Code starting from the Minimum Asset Code you set.

This feature has a problem and a glitch. The problem is that it only works for the first time. The glitch is that there should be a way to set it as the default option.

Yes,  it appears there is a bug with the Auto Generate feature.  The issue has been logged here.  Thanks!

UPDATE: This bug has been fixed and will be in the next release.

I've noticed that if you set a minimum asset code that begins with a "0", that zero is not output in the auto generated asset codes. Ex: setting a minimum asset code of 010001, the automatically generated code is 10001.

The clone feature is O.K. and workable, but it would be nice to have a bulk asset creation, where I can just add one code right after another and it creates the same asset with a different code.
