tracmor recognizes most if not all BC symbology.  i'm confident if you have the latest code (not latest download, not sure there) that any USB or wireless scanner will work with tracmor.  i've used a BT scanner and an iPad.  and yes you can check-out/check-in, move and ship multiple items using the scanner.

There are two ways to print bar code labels in Tracmor (assuming you are running the latest code!)

1) In the Admin module there is a section called Labels. This label generation tool will allow you to print labels on Avery 6571/6577 and 6570/6576 label stock. This tool is best for when you need to print a large number of labels at one time, assuming the Avery label stock works for your assets.

2) When viewing any asset in Tracmor, you will see a Print Asset Tag button. This button will generate a bar code label for the asset, which can then be printed from the browser to any printer, including label printers. This method is best for when you print your asset labels on an as-needed basis (one at a time). However, due to the web-based nature of Tracmor, this method also requires modifying the page/print setting of your web browser in order to remove margins and header/footer in order for the printed labels to fit properly on most label stock.

Please let us know if you require more information or need assistance with either of the above methods of label printing.

agreed.  we have an asset "audit" trail in dev. timeline for our next release (0.4 internally) expect to see it before year end or sooner.

for clarification, the first post's needs would be met by LOT tracking.  there has been no movement on this as our paid customer base is almost exclusively using the asset tracking in tracmor.  the following posts would indicate a parent child feature in the inventory module.  unfortunately, for reasons already mentioned this is currently not a priority (unless anyone wants to pay for it? ;-)

1)  user is whomever you give access to, or to keep data integrity you can give each user an individual log-in, depends on the sensitivity of the DB.

2) yes.  buy the cheapest USB bar-code scanner you can.  anyone who ever buys something "nice" always regrets it!  we have a portable UI that works with an iPad, for example.

3) you can print from within tracmor (limited label sizes) but we also now support the brother PT9700PC printer.  sennheiser UK use this method.

sorry guys.  we are still focusing on getting a 1.0 out there by Q4, but REPORTS keeps getting delayed.

i believe bstains is referring to site locations, which is on the timeline this year.  not for june/july release but the one after that towards the end of Q3, maybe Q4.  sorry it's not sooner.

our reports page is not complete, as you have divined!

however, if you do a search in advanced search and then export to a .csv file you should get most of what you need.

thank you dhunt!  i agree, we will add that to the wish list.

to confirm.  you are using the inventory module, not the asset module, when you reference "inventory"?

sorry, still on the timeline, but nothing coded yet :-(

ultrasonix, this is hamish here, i think i spoke briefly with graham coulter and ali at your company.  i hope all is working well with the open source download.

please don't forget we offer maintenance/support contracts for tracmor.  this would allow you access to the latest code and a better response time re: tech support.  the support costs mimic our hosted version you can find the pricing here:
http://www.tracmor.com/get-tracmor.html

if you are happy with the forums, no problem.  just thought i would mention it. - hamish

Depending on which module (tab) you are using (inventory or assets) you can create custom fields, one of those custom fields could be P/N, Serial No. etc....

In the asset module the hard coded field Asset Model Code is the OEM part no.

Hope that helps.

as originally conceived and designed, only the user that checked out an asset can check it back in (this is the same as reserving or unreserving an asset)  however it has been brought to our attention (outside of the forums) by customers, that the additional flexibility of being able to have other users check assets back in would be a useful feature to have as a part of tracmor.  probably you could turn on/off this feature in admin.

simply:

an asset is/can be uniquely identified using a serial no. or a bar-code.  these are items whose transactional history you might want to track individually, such as computers, tools or software licenses.

inventory items are more likely to be consumerable items, such as paper, pens or paper clips (e.g. 1 of 100, 2 or 100, 3 of 100) these might be items you would sell & then restock.

hope that helps. - hamish

we don't have a zipped up version, that's tested, with import, but the latest code is available at our svn repository.  it will be a few months before we release a new file.  you can batch move right now, and i see no reason why you couldn't scan or select 40 assets and batch move them.  - hamish

will do.

agreed.  part of a full "customization" plan/page that has yet to be fully conceived & implemented.  i can think of several other, along the same lines :-)

under advisement, thank you!

part of the development timeline.  not spec'ed out or assigned a budgeted yet.  unlikely to happen within the next 6 months.

when originally spec'ed out the internal estimate was for approximately 100hrs at a budgeted cost of +/-$5,000 USD.  the previous post still stands, the automated sign-up process has been more complex than anticipated.  and it's scope has been expanded to include integrating a 3rd party shipping app. (shiprush) & support/trouble ticketing system, coupled with a website refresher & some new tutorials & marketing.  bottom line:  we would need at least 50% of this dev. covered, up front.  and the flexibility to "put into production" after february 1st, even if dev. & testing is complete.

thank you matthew.  unfortunately one of our challenges is to create an upgrade path for the new releases, we can't keep doing them "manually" :-(  our current project encompasses automating various elements of the sign-up processes from research, to sign-up, to managing your account, to importing data: for the commercial open source.  that has to be a priority, from a revenue standpoint!  best guess is late january, early february without help or additional resources.

hey jeff.  i talked this over with justin this afternoon & we came to the following conclusion.  this feature is part of an evolution of tracmor.  we are going to get a rough estimate for implementation, just so you can get a feel for what it might cost.  after we have that info. lets talk some more.  now believe it or not, there is a company in australia who recently contacted us looking for the identical feature!  really a quite remarkable coincidence.  it is possible that the cost could be shared, but i could not confirm that until we contact the folks in australia.

hey mark, hamish here one of the principal's at tracmor, llc.  were you aware that we manage SMS's (USA) national ultrasound demonstration inventory?  i think they might even do the c-arm's  as well.  they use a 3PL out of dallas called techtrans.  may i ask what you are managing & what your use scenario looks like?  would you consider allowing us to use your experience as part of a white paper?  if this isn't the venue for this please reply privately to me - hamish

thank you vlad.  it sounds like you are referencing a "sales order" type processing piece of tracmor.  we haven't quite got there yet!  although once shipped or sold, an asset or inventory are removed from tracmor.  please advise, if i am missing anything re: your question.
