I just finished giving a demo of Tracmor to an organization interested in a product such as this. Responses were generally positive with one exception. The organization has many assets (in the hundreds), most of which are unique or nearly unique.
They were wondering if there was any desire to flatten the Asset Model and Asset into one structure? Rather, they wanted to know if there were any plans to add the asset model fields to the asset instead? Currently, we'd need to create an asset model, then an asset for nearly every asset that we have.
I understand the role the asset model serves, but what about rolling the asset and asset models into one structure, and allowing users to save semi-completed assets as "templates" rather than models and not making them required to create an asset?
Nevermind, I've discovered how to do it
Hi Hamish,
When I was referring to barcode support, I meant the ability for the Tracmor to attach a barcode attribute to each asset. Then, a screen that would allow a user to scan a barcode and have the asset profile page appear for the given asset.
Thoughts?
Any idea when barcode support will be in a release version?
I think this would be an extremely handy feature. A simple toggle in the settings menu could take care of this. If you need developer time, I'd be willing to pitch in.
