We have done an import, using the Asset Import code we found on the Google code source. The data is in the database, in custom fields within the 'asset_cutom_field_helper' table but it is not displaying on the generated web pages for each asset. However, when I edit an asset & change one of the custom fields it works; the system remembers the data & I can see the new data overwriting the imported data within the same table. It looks like the asset page needs to be refreshed when it is loaded, as it is assuming there is no data there when there is (which I can see in my SQL tool).

The lack of decent documentation is a serious problem for us with this otherwise great product. The Tracmor  business model says 'you are completely on your own or you have to buy a managed service on systems hosted by Tracmor', when what most people on here seem to want is the ability to buy the product & use it on their own systems in house. I have tried to get a straight answer from the support guys but it is like wading through mud; very slow & not worth the effort so far.

All I want is the ability to import data into the system without having to sign up to the Tracmor on Demand service. Having an asset management system without being able to import data is a waste of time for most people who are going to use the system properly. Being told, we have the code working but you can't have it is just annoying. I think we will look at other asset management systems that do not have this HUGE flaw in it.

Is there a way of getting the CSV import feature for a locally installed version of TracMor? We like the product & want to use it in house to mange several hundered prototype units but do not want top do the external hosting facility of Tracmor on Demand.
