Topic: Asset Depreciation

I have just gotten tracmor up and running and instantly got a new requirement from our controller. He would like some way to track asset depreciation so that he can keep track of the present book value of each item. We're a non-profit and every piece of equipment that we have in inventory has to be capitalized on our books. Are there any plans to include this sort of functionality at some point? Has anyone else had this requirement? If not, I am going to start developing my own. When I am finished I can post what I've done somewhere so other's can use it... if that acceptable to the project owners.

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Asset Depreciation

Hi Steve,

Asset depreciation is a standard feature of many asset tracking systems, and we've known we would need to add it eventually.  We simply hadn't seen much demand for it yet, so we've focused development elsewhere.  That said, we strongly encourage Tracmor users to feel free to develop features and share their contributions with the community. We will also consider including community-contributed code in the core Tracmor release where it makes sense to do so.

If you have any questions or need any help starting development on Tracmor,  please post in this forum.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Got Inventory? Get Tracmor.

Re: Asset Depreciation

Hi Justin,

Thanks for the reply. I have spent the day pretty much just looking at the app and the database trying to get the best plan of attack.  I just set up a development environment and will probably start writing out some use cases tomorrow. I'll keep posting as things progress.

Best,

Steve

Re: Asset Depreciation

We are going to need this feature as well.  Have you made any progress on it?

Thanks,
