Topic: Creating a single asset

Hi,

I am trying to create a single asset and I am wondering why the Category, Manufacturer, and Asset Model Code are not selectable on the create asset screen?  Is there a way to make them selectable?

Edit:  Also, why is an asset model required in this situation?  It should be optional as there are many occasions where you may only have 1 of something and shouldn't have to create a model for it.

Thanks,

Petaris

Re: Creating a single asset

You need to create an asset model before assigning assetts.  This is so you can quickly add items so e.g. you can just add another item by clicking the assett model.

ben_snclc,

Thanks for your post!  smile

I figured that part out yesterday but its going to be a real pain to do it that way.

I know the asset model makes it faster for creating multiple objects of the same category and manufacture, but what if I have a lot of single items or the same type of items but from multiple different manufacturers (and I have both of these situations)?  The requirement of creating an asset model then becomes ridiculous as its twice as much work as it needs to be.  I'm not saying that the model isn't a good idea, I'm just saying that it shouldn't be required.

Re: Creating a single asset

I didn't look back far enough but I just asked the same thing. I shouldn't have to create an asset model for EVERY type of item I need to enter. Just doesn't make sense if I (like you) have a lot of one-off items. My list of Asset Models is going to be astronomic!
