The warehousing business today is an off site out sourced business.

I am well versed in the warehousing business. Due to technology and cost control the warehousing industry has changed. A successful warehouse stores product from many operating retail/wholesale companies. In most cases they also look after the shipping/receiving for these companies as well as the on site location care, storage and order picking. Warehousing is no longer a business of one company storing all it's product. It is a warehouse storing the products of sometimes hundreds of companies. These companies need to see their inventory/shipping/receiving data daily without having to call or visit the warehouse.
Therefore... my suggestions for "Feature Request" is...

1. connect the Company module with the Contact module

2. add new Customer/Client/Contacts modules for companies that store their products as an out source service.

2. allow internet user access for Customer/Client/Contacts to view their own product inventory, shipping, receiving and time line status via a Customer Profile.

I hope this project continues toward current warehousing needs.

Basically we ship our equipment out to rent for about a week to a location where we have a tech onsite. Then we ship it back to our home location for maintenance and configuration for the next custom location. When I create a shipment, it automatically removes my assets from asset list, which I understand if I were selling the product, but in this case I am in possession of the product for the entire duration. I would like the ability to create shipments between locations, So I can track what is currently in transit between locations, then have the ability to "receive" the shipment onsite. I understand there is a move location under assets, But the action is instant and does not allow me to track it when it is in transit and "receive" it when it arrives. While in transit the product is out of my inventory and inaccessible and takes a few days to get to it's new location. And of course my requirements are just slightly different then most warehouse's, though I am sure there are companies out there that would like a shipment from "warehouse" to "warehouse", or "warehouse" to "store" feature.

I don't see any requests for this, and think it would be a great addition to Tracmor.

So here's the idea. You have an option in the Admin panel that allows you to create conditions using SQL like queries. If the condition is met an SMTP email is sent to you notifying you of the condition and value of the item(s) you are monitoring. These notifications could be used to monitor assets, inventory, and shipping/receiving.

You could have a select box with predefined fields, use check-boxes, or separate input fields to build the query. I've included an example below of what one of the queries might look like.

Asset Example:
If the count of an asset reaches a given threshold an email alert is sent. This allows users to be proactive with their inventory/assets.

Syntax: IF value(id) COUNT OPERATOR INT
End User: IF AssetModel(75) COUNT <= 50

Inventory Example:
Inventory is considerably more difficult as the quantity of a given model is stored in a separate location, but I would think a query similar to this wouldn't be too cumbersome for the end user.

Syntax: IF location(id) value(id) COUNT OPERATOR INT
End User: IF Location(3) InventoryModel(15) COUNT <= 250

The system would become increasingly functional if you allowed the end-user to use WHERE AND OR operators making the queries more complex and granular.
